Leadership Days

We've held two Leadership Day events in the past few months, targeted at seventh, eighth, and ninth grade student leaders from 15 different schools. Over 275 students and 26 teachers attended both events.

Last month the students were challenged to find the reason God placed them here and to pursue their purpose with everything they have. This month they learned the importance of having a mentor and being a mentor to others.

As this was our last Leadership Day of the year, we passed out certificates to all the students that had attended throughout the year. We gave out a total of 324 certificates! Each student also went home with a Bible. The teachers and principals were blessed with gift bags and thank-you notes. The Leadership Summit team worked really hard to make this last event extra special!

"My students are becoming more responsible and learning to be more tolerant and sharing with others. The Student Christian Organization of the school is also growing bigger, meaning that the Spirit of God is gradually invading the school and the community." -Teacher

Doing Life Together

Pastor Conference

At our Hand in Hand pastors' training seminar at the end of August, Pastor Jodie Stehouwer and Janice Skaggs spoke on the power of teamwork. Over 60 pastors and church leaders attended the conference. Pastor Jodie taught from the book of Acts regarding the early Believers sharing everything with each other. She had everyone pair up and asked them to pray about what they could share with their partner. The next day, the pastors got together to exchange gifts and pray for each other. It was a powerful and practical way for them to immediately apply what they were learning.

Even our interns took part in sharing their lives with their new Basotho friends.

"As soon as Pastor Jody gave the word, a woman came walking right over to me. We briefly exchanged names---her name is Masabata---and then sat back down. The following day when it was time to meet back up with our partner, I gave Masabata my soccer cleats and a packet of study notes from one of my classes. She told me that she got together with her family the night before to tell all of them about the conference and she told them about me. Her whole family prayed for me and that night when she couldn't sleep, she and her husband prayed for me again! Masabata showed me pictures of her family and it turns out that one of her daughters is a student at the school where I teach LaunchPad. The next week, her daughter came to attend my LaunchPad class!" -Shannon

  Mission Teams

A group from Life Christian Church (Troy, MI) came out for two weeks as our last mission team of the year. After the first week of relationship evangelism, several new Believers attended church with the team. It was awesome to see the families get connected with the local church. Many lives were impacted through the team's obedience to follow God to South Africa.

Family Days

Five of our interns have family members visiting them right now, getting a glimpse of what their kids have been doing all year. On Friday they had a great time getting to know the children at Hope House, and they'll be spending the next few days ministering alongside the interns through relationship evangelism. We've so enjoyed the opportunity to get to know some of our interns' families, and we're looking forward to the next week together.
