Thrive Trip

This month we hosted our first-ever own mission trip, affectionately dubbed Thrive Trip, which was open to young adults across America. We have had the dream to host our own trip for many years, and it was incredible to see that come to fulfillment this year. We had amazing team leaders (Thank you, Cassie and Brandon!) and a great team of 8 young women. God moved mightily in and through each one of them.

The team ministered in Intabazwe and Qwa Qwa through relationship evangelism and kids' ministry.
It was a blessing
to see each team member step out of their comfort zone, grow in their walk with the Lord, and go home truly changed forever.

We are looking forward to hosting another Thrive Trip next summer.

Interns in Action

Interns

Photos from Orphanage

Our interns spend two hours a week ministering to the children at a local orphanage. They teach lessons (which are a great combination of spiritual and practical truths), play games, lead crafts, and simply love on the kids. The children have captured our hearts, and this outreach has definitely become a highlight of the week for many.

One of the interns, Becca, shares:

"Our ministry is dedicated to accomplishing a three-fold purpose. We provide the children with Biblical knowledge, teach practical lessons, and show them what it means to be loved by somebody. Our lessons center around the umbrella theme that God finds us special. We have been given such a unique opportunity to step in and become 'parents' to these beautiful children, enabling us to really communicate what it means to be truly loved by someone.
It is an honor and a privilege to be used by God in this capacity."

Outreach Staff

It's hard to believe that our Outreach Staff (summer interns) have been with us for more than five weeks already.
They all passionately put themselves into everything they do - whether it's working hard on the mission base or ministering through relationship evangelism. They are doing an awesome job, and we are proud to have them as part of the Thrive family!

"This experience has been amazing. I have learned so much about myself and God." - Stephanie

"I came here thinking this was going to be just another mission trip, but it has been so much more! " - Samantha

Hosting Teams

Mission Teams

It has been an awesome month in the outreach department, with four youth teams coming out to serve with us. In the past month, we've hosted teams from Kensington Community Church (Troy, MI), Discovery Church (Orlando, FL), Cornerstone Church (Highland, MI), and Resurrection Life Church (Richland, MI).  It has been awesome to see these young people grow in their faith as they learned to articulate what they believe and share Jesus with others.

Winter in Africa

In the past month we've experienced some pretty interesting weather. We are in our winter season (since we're in the Southern Hemisphere), and last month we even had some snow!  The past few weeks we've been enjoying some spring-like temperatures, but we knew it was too good to be true to think winter had ended.  The past few days have been extremely windy and cold again.  So windy, in fact, that the roof blew off of one of our cabins!

You never know what to expect here in South Africa!
